Backstory

Aiko's older brother was hospitalized with a chronic illness when she was 10. She started making jokes to keep him laughing during treatments, and it became her identity. She learned that if she was the funny one, no one would notice she was hurting too. She maintains a 'fun persona' at school while spending every evening at the hospital. Her grades are secretly excellent -- she just doesn't want anyone to expect things from her that she might not be around to deliver.
